3 TIPS TO AVOID FEELING OVERWHELMED BY VIDEOCONFERENCING

Working from home is certainly a convenient and effective solution to counter the difficulties born in 2020.

The pandemic has led many companies to embrace smart working both to protect their employees and not to block production chains (where it has been possible).

Many employees started smart working, but with very few tools, because most of the companies were not yet really ready to face all this.

Entrepreneurs have worked to ensure smart working and organize it in the best possible way, and employees have experienced work from home, even if they don't know much about how to manage work remotely.

One of the most used tools to coordinate smart working is undoubtedly videoconferencing, but… what happens when we abuse it?

When something is used excessively could cause problems and those who experienced this problem, called it "Video Fatigue".

WHAT IS FATIGUE FROM VIDEOCONFERENCES?

People use this video tool daily in the workplace, but also during the post-work to communicate and keep in touch with friends and relatives.

This habit can cause a sense of discomfort, exhaustion and… fatigue.

Fatigue from video calls is spreading like wildfire among workers struggling with smart working: very often there is greater fatigue even than in office work.

HOW TO DECREASE THE FATIGUE VIDEO IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS:

We don’t have to give up but face the difficulties we have.

There are some steps we can take to work remotely, reducing fatigue from videoconferencing.

Let's see them together:

- Reduction of unnecessary meetings
- Call with cameras off
- Alternative forms and tools of communication to videoconferencing

Let's start from the very first point on the list.

1. REDUCTION OF UNNECESSARY MEETINGS

Very frequently video calls could very well be replaced by e-mails or written messages.

To reduce fatigue from videoconferencing, it is good to discern which meetings are necessary and, instead, which topics can be handled in an alternative way.

Reducing the number of unnecessary meetings not only frees you from video fatigue, but helps you to better allocate your work time.

This reduces both the amount of time in front of the screen and the timing of communicating information to the team or individual worker.

2. WE DON'T ALWAYS NEED TO KEEP WEBCAMS ON

In many meetings, especially those of very large teams, it is not necessary for everyone to keep their webcams on.

There are different ways to make sure everyone is listening, also because, video or non-video, you can always get distracted.

One of the ways to channel the attention of the group to the conference is to comment, ask questions, reply in chat to specific requests made to the individual.

3. IDENTIFY ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF COMMUNICATION

Some communications can easily be done in writing: e-mails and company chat messages are valid and efficient alternative tools.

Videoconferencing is one of the communication tools for your company, but it's not the only one you have to use.

At Voxloud, we have thought of a solution to coordinate a team remotely.

We have created the first cloud Cloud phone system that integrates many functions in a single application, including telephone and videoconferencing.

It is a tool with 2 necessary functions.

The Voxloud system allows you to use your Cloud phone system as a normal telephone, but also as a tool to organize and hold video conferences.

You can collaborate with your company, with your suppliers and with your potential customers just in a few clicks.

With Voxloud, all corporate communications are concentrated in a single app that works in 2 (and more) different ways: telephone and videoconferencing.
